Preserve Manager

Wildlands Conservancy is accepting applications for a full time Preserve Manager to be responsible for planning and executing natural resource management and restoration projects, public access and recreation projects, and assist in the maintenance of the physical property assets of the Conservancy.

The successful candidate will actively manage all of the Conservancy’s fee simple properties, form relationships with user groups and the communities, assist Summer Stewardship Crew with assigned duties/projects as directed, connect researchers and students to opportunities on our preserves, work cooperatively with the Property Associate on preserve infrastructure projects (building maintenance, signage, parking, trails, etc.), monitor the public use/access of the preserves and ensure conservation values are not being impaired, and assist with monitoring and reporting of Wildlands conservation easement portfolio.

The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor’s Degree related to natural resource management, 3+ years’ experience in the conservation field – land and natural resource management, expert knowledge of native species of flora and fauna of Pennsylvania, experience in field—site visits, baseline analysis, land management and monitoring, proficiency in GIS and conservation law and natural resources protection, have the ability to lift 50lbs and hike 5 miles and possess a valid driver’s license and functioning personal vehicle.

Director of Development

Wildlands Conservancy seeks a motivated, innovative, community-focused candidate to join its growing Development and Communications team as its Director of Development.  Under the direction of the Vice President of Development and Communications, the Director of Development is responsible for the planning, implementation and oversight of the organization’s fundraising efforts specifically Annual Fund, which secures significant unrestricted financial support from foundations, government, corporations and individuals through direct mail, personal solicitation and special events to achieve the organization’s broad conservation and education goals.  Primary responsibilities also include the management of the organization’s grants, stewardship and volunteer programs.

The nonprofit land trust is embarking on new, exciting initiatives including implementing the organization’s new central database and commencing a capital campaign.  These programs, along with the opportunity to build your own team, will support the Director of Development in achieving financial and strategic goals for the organization’s fundraising efforts.

The applicant should hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, public administration or a related field, have 5 to 10 years of specific fundraising experience in a position of comparable responsibility, CFRE or ACFRE preferred; have extensive management experience; have expert knowledge of major-gifts giving; be able to demonstrate success in obtaining major gifts and in building and maintaining long-term relationships with major donors, foundations, and corporations; have a working knowledge and effective understanding of at least the basics of planned giving and estate giving, superb communication and presentation skills; ability to work with a broad based constituency; ability to design, implement and direct multiple projects; and ability to think strategically.

Outdoor Recreation Program Coordinator

Wildlands Conservancy is accepting applications for a full-time Outdoor Recreation Program Coordinator who will be responsible for providing a balance of watershed education and outdoor exploration opportunities through teaching, training, managing and leadership.  The Outdoor Recreation Program Coordinator will oversee the Conservancy’s outdoor recreation programs and outreach activities such as, but not limited to, hiking, biking, canoeing, camping, citizen science, fishing, and snorkeling to audiences such as school students, adults, scouts, families, businesses and more.

The successful candidate will perform routine tasks including but not limited to, providing professional and effective leadership across the scope of programs; being able to keep precise accounting of trip costs and expenses, assisting with program budgets; recruiting, training, and evaluating staff and volunteers; managing inventory of program equipment; conducting safety presentations; developing program logistics; meeting with schools, businesses and other organizations and agencies to promote Wildlands Conservancy’s missions; creating new outdoor recreation programs; assisting with grants and being responsible for some of Wildlands Conservancy education programs.

The successful candidate should be at least 18 years of age; be able to work with all individuals of all ages, gender, race and abilities in the outdoors and indoors; be able to work individually and within a team; have previous experience as river guide and/or additional relevant trainings or certifications such as lifeguard, Wilderness First Aid/First Responder, and water rescue trainings; have knowledge and experience with outdoor recreation activities such as, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, hiking and bicycling; be tolerant of  inclement weather conditions; ability to lift 50lbs; possess or are willing to acquire Adult CPR/AED and Frist Aid Certification, Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (ACT 151), Pennsylvania State Police Request for Criminal Background Check (Act 34), and current FBI Clearance; and must have a valid Pennsylvania Drivers’ License.

Wildlands Conservancy is accepting applications for a Seasonal Part-Time Environmental Educator to be responsible for developing, coordinating, promoting, and teaching community and school environmental education programs.

The successful candidate will prepare for and teach environmental education classes to groups and individuals of all ages and learn how to properly handle education animals in order to present wildlife during programming.

The successful candidate should have education or life experience related to outdoor activities, environmental studies, biology, natural resources, education or conservation, ability to work night and weekends, ability to work with all age groups, work independently and within a team, have patience and sense of humor, tolerance of inclement weather, and excellent interpersonal skills and must possess or be willing to obtain; current CPR, First Aid and AED certification; Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151); Pennsylvania State Police Request for Criminal Record Check (Act 34); and FBI Clearance (Act 114).

Seasonal PT Environmental Educator Assistant

Wildlands Conservancy is accepting applications for a Seasonal Part-Time Environmental Educator Assistant to be responsible for assisting the Environmental Educator with preparing for community and school environmental education programs such as summer camp and field trips.

The successful candidate will assist with preparing for environmental education classes to groups and individuals of all ages; assist with summer camp parking, attendance, crafts, hikes and other programs; assist with maintaining office/building organization and assist with other activities necessary to advance the mission of Wildlands Conservancy.

The successful candidate should be a minimum of 17 years of age, have a genuine interest in natural sciences, environmental education, environmental science, outdoors, and conservation; be tolerant of inclement weather; ability to work with all ages and individuals; ability to lift 25lbs and must possess or be willing to obtain, current CPR, First Aid and AED certification; Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151); Pennsylvania State Police Request for Criminal Record Check (Act 34); and FBI Clearance (Act 114).

Seasonal PT Stewardship Crew Member

Wildlands Conservancy is accepting applications for a Seasonal Part-Time Stewardship Crew Member to be responsible for assisting with managing the natural resources and infrastructure of Wildlands Conservancy’s nature preserves.

The successful candidate will work on trails on the Conservancy Preserves, identify and manage invasive species, conduct biological inventories, perform small construction projects and assist with habitat restoration projects.

The successful candidate must have completed two years of college level work relating to environmental science, have the ability to interpret maps, conduct physical labor in all types of weather, use power tools safely, work independently, lift 50 lbs. and hike 5 miles.

Seasonal PT Bike and Boat Adventure Guide

Wildlands Conservancy is accepting applications for a Seasonal Part-Time Bike and Boat Adventure Guide to be responsible for assisting with the national award winning Bike and Boat program by providing safety guidance, education and professional leadership on the trips.

The successful candidate will be a healthy, outdoor adventure-minded individual who will provide safety guidance and professional leadership on Bike and Boat trips, assist with education and logistics components of trip, support the Lead Guide in areas of overseeing the equipment relating to the program and conduct safety presentations.

The successful candidate should possess previous experience as a river guide and/or relevant training, be able to lift, move and load canoes and bikes, excellent communication skills, have patience and a sense of humor and must possess or be willing to obtain; current CPR, First Aid and AED certification; Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151); Pennsylvania State Police Request for Criminal Record Check (Act 34); and FBI Clearance (Act 114).
