Bake Oven Knob hikes to the highest point in Lehigh County at 1,600 ft above sea level. It is a part of the Appalachian Trail along the Blue Mountain ridge near Germansville.

The parking lot is just 0.4 miles from the view. The hike has an elevation gain of 40 feet but is steep and rocky. Some vantage points may require scrambling to access.

Since Bake Oven Knob offers lookouts on both sides of the Appalachian Trail, facing north and south, the lookouts are popular among birders. It is a popular spot for hawk watching.

The hike to the lookouts is lined with mountain laurel, Pennsylvania’s state flower. The rocks are covered in moss, and ferns cover the ground.

The name bake oven knob comes from the boulders that have been naturally carved out long ago during the glacial period. The resemblance of some of the boulders to ovens gives this location its name.
