Maple Tract Preserve Stream Restoration

Restoring the natural state of a stream affords a whole host of benefits, including improved water quality and wildlife habitat, erosion and flood control and enhanced opportunities for recreation. And when it comes to stream restoration, few strategies are as simple and effective as dam removal.

Wildlands has facilitated the removal of 18 obsolete dams in the past five years. We’re enthusiastic to continue leading by example and recently removed the last dam among the nine nature preserves we own and manage. Watch the video below to learn more about the removal on the Tunkhannock Creek at our Pocono-based Maple Tract Preserve.

Stewardship of the natural areas we protect is made possible thanks to the support of our giving community. Your gift to Wildlands today keeps us ground to take care of nature for generations to come!
