This 26-acre Northampton County Park hugs the Delaware Canal. It’s a lovely stop if you are bicycling on the Canal or canoeing on the Delaware. Its group tent sites can host overnight stays by organized groups paddling on the River or the Canal. There’s a small amphitheater and convenient picnic tables and fire grills. We’ll walk to the group tent site, cross a small bridge to the towpath and loop up stream to the canal overflow and then back to another foot bridge. Here you can get an understanding of how the canal locks operated to lower or raise the canal boats. This hike is appropriate for children of all ages. It is not suitable for strollers or wheel-chairs. Dogs on leash are welcome. Wear or bring shoes you can get wet. We’ll be able to wade in the oeverflow section of the towpath. Wear a sun hat and sun screen. Bring bug repellant and hiking poles or walking sticks. Bathrooms are available at the park.
