Halfway through our hike, we’ll explore part of the Nor-Bath Trail. Then we will turn around and retrace our steps to Wayne Grube Memorial Park, a 200-acre park in Northampton County. The Catasauqua Creek meanders down the middle of the park, which also boasts a softball field, 3 pavilions, and toddler-friendly playgrounds. In addition, there’s a pleasant loop trail that crosses the Catasauqua Creek twice. We’ll walk through a tunnel on our way to the Nor-Bath Trail, that runs for 5 miles between Northampton and Bath. Northampton County began construction of the Rail to Trail, where the former Northampton & Bath Railroad ran for 77 years, in the 1990’s. This hike is appropriate for children of all ages. Dogs are prohibited at the pavilion and in the tot lot. The trail is stroller- and wheelchair-friendly. Bring binoculars/camera for taking in the vistas. In the winter this is a great place for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing, too. Bathrooms: Available from mid-April to end of October. Portable toilet is available all year. Park near Pavilion #1 where we will meet.
