On this walk we’ll learn to identify wild plants that can be used as food. We’ll cover ethical collection of edibles, touch on the use of wild plants as medicine, as well as Native American lore about the powers and uses of common plants. Named for Wilkes-Barre naturalist Thomas Darling Jr, This groundwater-fed glacial wetland has one of the state’s largest and healthiest spruce forests. This 2 mile hike is partly on a boardwalk through a bog and is fairly easy, on mostly level ground. Dress for the weather. There are no restrooms here. Leashed dogs welcome.
