Bike & Boat Adventure Days

Wildlands Conservancy’s Bike and Boat program is pleased to announce its 2008 season scheduled public trips.

Walk for Wellness ~ 2006Join us for one or more of these adventures, as each trip has a unique theme and explores different and exciting stretches of our beautiful Lehigh River.

We provide canoes, bicycles (if applicable), safety equipment (PFD’s, helmets, ect), as well as certified safety instructors and experienced naturalists for each adventure.

Sunday, May 4th, 9:00am
Freemansburg Island Clean-up
Give us a few hours of help and we’ll give you a free paddle from Sand Island to Freemansburg Island. We’ll meet at Sand Island at 9:00am, and transportation will be provided back at 3:00pm. Everyone MUST pre-register by 4/24.

Saturday, May 24th, 10:00am
Allentown to Bethlehem Spring Bike & Boat
A classic spring Bike & Boat trip, we’ll meet at Canal Park in Allentown, paddle to Sand Island, and then bicycle back along the canal towpath. Our focus will be on reptiles and amphibians of the Lehigh River and
its watershed, and we’ll even meet some along the way. Must pre-register by 5/20.

Sunday, June 15th, 1:00pm
Bethlehem to Wilson Avenue Paddle
Join us for a leisurely Sunday afternoon paddle from Sand Island to the Wilson Avenue river access. We’ll focus on the history of the Lehigh River and stop at Freemansburg Island for exploration or for a swim.
Must pre-register by 6/10.

Friday, July 18th, 6:00pm
Full Moon Evening Bike & Boat
Don’t miss this trip as we bike from Sand Island to Canal Park then paddle back at dusk under a full moon. Bring glowsticks and flashlights for a truly unique experience. Must pre-register by 7/14.

Saturday, July 26th, 9:00 am
Bowmanstown to Walnutport Bike & Boat
Join us as we explore the beautiful Lehigh Gap via canoe & bicycle. We’ll stop at Lehigh Gap Nature Center along the way for a brief introduction to programs and project efforts along the way. Register by 7/22

Saturday, August 23, 10:00 am
Allentown to Wilson Avenue Paddle
Let us guide you on this extended paddle from Allentown's Canal Park to the Wilson Avenue river access. Bring your binoculars as we'll be focusing on birds of the watershed, with an expert on board to answer questions to to provide insight to the wonders of this "Metro-Wilderness," and its importance to watershed birds. Register by 8/18

Saturday, September 20, 10:00 am
Allentown to Bethlehem Fall Bike and Boat
A beautiful time of year to paddle from Allentown to Bethlehem, followed by a bike trip back. This trip will include a GPS lesson with some "Geo-caching" activities along the way. Register by 9/15

Saturday, October 18, 9:00 am
Bowmanstown to Treichlers Fall Foliage Paddle
If you can only make it to one trip this year, make it this one. While fall foliage is near its peak, we'll paddle through the Lehigh Gap and see an amazing perspective of some of Eastern PA's most dramatic natural features. Register by 10/13

Trips are $30 per participant and everyone must pre-register. Please contact us for more information or to register for any of our 2008 Lehigh River Adventures.
