If you are looking for fun-filled adventure without the travel time, don’t miss Wildlands Conservancy’s Bike & Boat River Island Camp-out, a 24-hour canoe trip/camping adventure on the beautiful Lehigh River. The Lehigh River, relatively undisturbed and flowing through the “metro-wilderness” of the Lehigh Valley, is one of America’s foremost historic and scenic waterways. The natural beauty of the river, it's abundant wildlife, and the experience of canoeing its gentle waters, makes this an opportunity not to be missed.
Day One of the excursion begins in Allentown and features an eight-mile canoe trip followed by an overnight camp-out on Freeman's Island in the middle of the river. After a delicious camp-cooked meal, we’ll settle in for a night of campfire tales and camaraderie, before being lulled to sleep by the sounds of the river.
The adventure continues on Day Two with either an extension of our canoe trip to Hugh Moore Park in Easton, or a leisurely bike ride back to Allentown along the canal towpath. With advance planning, the trip is adaptable for groups of all ages, interests and abilities.
