Improved Access and Information Enhance the Lehigh River Water Trail

Connecting the Community with the Lehigh River

As the Lehigh River Water Trail manager, Wildlands Conservancy forwards education and recreation opportunities that support the continued protection of the Lehigh River, maintaining a perpetual focus on improved water quality and wildlife habitat throughout the watershed.

In 2015, improved signage for marking the Lehigh River Water Trail was created for nearly 20 access points and an all-new web presence with interactive tools invites paddlers to plan trips, map out amenities and connect with information about conditions.

Boat Launch & More Parking

Wildlands’ access improvements  include the construction of a new boat launch below Treichlers Bridge. Additionally, paddlers and D&L Trail users alike will benefit from the installation of two new parking areas in this popular outdoor recreation spot. A second new launch is slated for Walnutport in spring 2016.

The newly constructed boat launch below Treichler’s Bridge follows from a gradual slope for easy access.
