WE WANT TO CLEAN UP LITTLE LEHIGH CREEK!
FOUNTAIN PARK, ALLENTOWN:
Location of Park: Central Allentown. Parking lot along Martin Luther King Boulevard next to the outdoor pool, near the intersection with 10 th Street. Caution! When the pool is open in the summer, parking will be difficult to find here. Organize a cleanup by working around the hours of the pool facility or find parking on side streets nearby.
Location of trash in park: Litter accumulates between the pool area and the creek. This area is flat. To clean the wooded area along the stream, you need sturdy shoes as this area is very steep. Access to the other side of the creek is gained by walking down to 10 th Street. This area is flat Rubber boots to get the trash at the edges could be helpful for some of the volunteers, but water is too deep for a stream walk. Mostly trash from park users like soda bottles and snack food wrappers, but in this urbanized area anything is possible.
Participants: Easy access to trash near recreation area, though access to Little Lehigh Creek more difficult as it becomes fairly steep. Flat area across the creek requires group to walk over 10 th Street bridge. Appropriate for teens or older.
