Bio-degradable Erosion Control Blanket

Bio-degradable Erosion Control Blanket is a material that can be used in conjunction with just about any stream restoration technique to ensure the stability of the stream bank in the short term between the project's completion and the establishment of the planted vegetation. Bio-degradable Erosion Control Blanket is woven matting made from coconut fiber that can be placed on bare areas of soil to prevent erosion. Native seed can be placed underneath the matting and native vegetation planted within the matting to encourage the implementation of the riparian buffer. The blanket should be secured to the stream bank using bio-degradable stakes, while the edges of the blanket should be trenched into the stream bank for added stability. The one potential drawback to the use of this material is the expense. Bio-degradable materials can be extremely costly, especially when applied over a large area.
